Happy Birthday, Joseph Gordon-Levitt!

Today we're celebrating the 31st birthday of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He got his acting start in the late-1980s with roles in a few television shows and made-for-television movies, but it wasn't until 1992 that he made his feature-film debut in Beethoven, followed shortly by A River Runs Through It that same year. Gordon-Levitt started to gain prominence in 1994 with his leading role in Angels in the Outfield, which helped spur him toward a leading role on the TV show "3rd Rock from the Sun." In an attempt to break into movies again, Joseph started taking on small, independent projects in the 2000s with films like 2003's Manic, 2005's Mysterious Skin and 2006's Brick. He slowly started to attract attention, and his choice of films grew larger and larger. In 2009, he was nominated for his first Golden Globe for his performance in (500) Days of Summer, and he enjoyed a successful 2010, appearing in his first real major film in Inception. Most recently, audiences have seen Joseph Gordon-Levitt battle cancer in 2011's 50/50, and they will next see him in a slew of 2012 releases including The Dark Knight Rises, Premium Rush and Lincoln. So, to celebrate his 31st birthday, I've created a list of my five favorite of Joseph's performances. I've found videos for each role, but I do warn you that some of them contain strong language. That being said, I'd like to once again wish Joseph Gordon-Levitt a happy 31st birthday!
